Matthew Berry

After a fifteen-year hiatus, I returned to making art a year and a half ago, reclaiming a creative path that once defined me. I am a 1997 graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where I focused on figure drawing and computer imaging. Life took me through a journey of transformation—marriage, divorce, raising teenage daughters, overcoming addiction, and navigating careers in tech, service, and print industries. Along the way, I moved from place to place, eventually finding my footing in the St. Louis art scene. My work now exists as a reflection of survival, reinvention, and resilience, embodied in my online brand, AftermathArt. Each piece I create is a testament to the beauty that emerges from chaos and the stories that shape us along the way.
