Brooke Hoogendoorn

Born in New Iberia, La and now based in Lafayette. I've been lucky enough to turn my passion into a career, beginning around the age of 23, as a self-taught artist. I've followed the urge to explore any and all type of art asked of me. Now I work mainly in acrylic and latex paint, often adding pencil markings, chalk, or collage elements to bring a piece to life. I love the freedom of abstract work - no rules, no strict plans - just bold colors, unexpected compositions, and a process that tells me what to do. Somehow, my work finds a line between expressive abstract art and home decor. Interior designers often enjoy using my pieces as anchors in a room or statement elements that can move fluidly between different design styles. That connection between art and living spaces feels especially rewarding. After 20 + years in my home studio, I've recently opened my own gallery/studio space in Lafayette, and I couldn't be more excited to keep creating and exploring.
