About
Deran Wright is a Texas based American figurative sculptor. He was drawing recognizable pictures as early as age three. At age eight he was selling hand drawn comic strips and portraits to school classmates. At age eleven he was invited to become the art director of a magazine produced entirely by children. Working with a Texas foundry, he cast his first sculpture into bronze at age 17. Ten years later his sculpture ‘Reaching for Learning & Liberty’ was unveiled at the White House by President H.W. Bush. Mr. Wright uses traditional methods to create contemporary sculpture in bronze. His award winning works examine recurring myths, legends, and icons of society.
