Black Love Fest New Orleans

Black Love Fest is a multi-generational art and music festival hosted by The Black School to honor Black culture and create a cultural safe space for rituals, traditions, art, and innovations of varied Black and allied voices in New Orleans.  The festival’s headliner is noted New Orleans performer Flagboy Giz in addition to other musical acts such as Angelica “Jelly” Joseph and DJ Legatron Prime. The festival will also feature a Black Utopia Marketplace full of small businesses, local activists, community resources, local restaurants, and a Farmers Market with local growers. There will be an interactive 20 ft wide and 8 feet long inflatable community art installation by Monique Lorden, and complimentary family photography.  Black Love Fest will be held on October 5, 2024, at the Seventh Ward’s historical Hunter’s Field, blocks from where The Black School will complete the construction of The Black Schoolhouse Community Art Center at 1660 N. Roman in New Orleans in 2025. The Schoolhouse will serve as a hub for honoring Black culture past and present while demonstrating a radical vision for the future centered on Black love.
