Hospitality Assistant COMPANY DESCRIPTION For 29 years, the International Festival of Arts & Ideas (“Arts & Ideas”) has inspired and delighted audiences with an annual program of over 200 performing arts and humanities events year-round, at least 85% of which are free. Focused events in June range from world and nationally-renowned speakers sharing the stage with critical local voices for discussions on democracy, to jazz concerts, theatrical performances, dance; takeout mixology classes; bike and walking tours; and live, individual performances by local on-call artists on front lawns and sidewalks throughout the area. Year-round programs include special town-hall events, a fellowship program for youth, planning and implementing mini-festivals in New Haven’s culturally-rich neighborhoods, participation in the NEA Big Read, and our annual Visionary Leadership Event. JOB DESCRIPTION The Hospitality Assistant will support the Hospitality Manager in the setup, coordination, and execution of food and beverage services across various locations during the festival. They will: Assist in the setup and breakdown of food and beverage stations at designated festival areas (including but not limited to artists’ green rooms, dressing rooms, staff tents etc.) Ensure cleanliness and organization of all hospitality areas throughout the festival. Help maintain adequate inventory levels of food, beverages, and supplies. Collaborate with the Hospitality Manager and other team members to ensure smooth operations and adherence to safety standards. Assist in liaising with restaurants and local merchants collecting and setting up food service plan Cleaning up once food service concludes Participate in post-Festival cleanup of Hospitality goods and the final removal of Hospitality items from venues. Pack up and inventory Hospitality goods for storage at the end of the Festival Follow all health and safety guidelines and protocols to maintain a safe working environment. Location: The Hospitality Assistant will be stationed at various locations throughout the festival grounds as assigned by the Hospitality Manager. DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS Must be organized and be able to lift 25 lbs. safely. Able to set-up/strike quickly, efficiently, and invisibly; and have flair with flowers, food, and fun. General familiarity with the operations of live performance and performing artists is a plus. Reports to: Hospitality Manager Key Communication: Company Manager, Transportation Captain, Production Office Manager CLASSIFICATION Part-Time Seasonal Non-Exempt Pay Rate: $17/hour Schedule: June 2024 (Fully In-Person) Working hours may vary depending on the festival schedule and operational needs. Flexibility in working hours is required, including evenings and weekends.
