WPKN, a unique listener-supported, non-commercial radio station in Bridgeport, CT, is seeking an Underwriting Contractor to join our team! For over 60 years, WPKN has been a vital voice, broadcasting an eclectic mix of music, news, and cultural programming 24/7. We’re proudly community-driven and amplify the incredible work of non-profits, businesses, artists, and organizations across Connecticut, Long Island, and parts of New York and Massachusetts. Our underwriting program is key to this amplification, providing essential operational funding for the station. In this crucial role, you'll be instrumental in growing our underwriting program by developing and securing new partnerships. You’ll manage contracts, collaborate with our team, and ensure compliance with non-commercial broadcasting guidelines. What you'll do: - Develop and secure new underwriting relationships with diverse organizations. - Manage underwriting contracts and maintain meticulous records. - Collaborate with WPKN staff to meet underwriting goals. - Help craft compelling marketing materials and scripts. - Ensure all underwriting activities comply with FCC and WPKN policies. - Leverage and expand your communal networks within WPKN’s broadcast reach. Who you are: - A self-starter with excellent interpersonal and communication skills. - Comfortable with meticulous data entry and detail-oriented tasks. - Goal and deadline-oriented. - Knowledgeable about WPKN's mission, values, and audience. - Possess strong community connections within our terrestrial broadcast area. This is a flexible, 20-hour per week contract position, offering $20-25/hour based on experience. While it starts with an in-office expectation, there’s potential for remote work.
