The City of Maryland Heights invites Missouri-based artists to apply for a public art project at Aquaport. The artist will be asked to design and paint a mural on a 195 foot concrete retaining wall (with varying heights) within the outdoor water park. This project focuses on creating an original, site-specific mural. This art piece will serve as the backdrop to the “Kiddie Pool” area towards the front of the park. Sponsored by the Maryland Heights Beautification Commission and implemented by the Parks & Recreation Department, this project aims to enhance the aesthetic appeal of Aquaport. The piece should help create a welcoming and playful atmosphere for visitors. Applications are open. The deadline to apply is March 2, 2025. Artists will be asked to provide a summary of qualifications, samples of previous work, a proposed sketch or design for this project, and an expected artist's fee or honorarium. Applications will be reviewed and one artist will be selected by the Beautification Commission. The chosen artist will be compensated.
