About

I have lived in the St. Louis are my whole life. I purchased my first serious 35mm film camera in 1970 when I was in the US Army. After being discharged I attended several photography and art classes at FVCC. This early work was black and white darkroom photography. I was in my first group show in 1972. In the 80s and 90s, while my son was growing up, I was an active volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America in various positions. While working full time as an engineer at a local manufacturing company, in 1999 I returned to Florissant Valley at night and completed an associate degree in Photography in June 2006. During this time, I learned to process color prints in the darkroom, started scanning my film and learning photoshop to process my scans. In 2008 I purchased my first Canon digital camera and since then I have used only digital. In 2013 I switched over to Sony and I am now using a Sony Alpha a7R III. In 2014 I retired from working for someone else, and I am doing photography full time. Around 2007 I began entering various juried art events. I have been a member of Art St. Louis for over 15 years, and I have been selected for several of their juried shows. Three of my images that I entered in the St. Louis 250 Year Sheldon/Beacon photography competition were accepted and be exhibited at the Sheldon and publish in the companion book project St. Louis at 250, the Sheldon Art Galleries/St. Louis Beacon Citywide Photo Contest. I am a juried member of Greater St. Louis Artists (GSLA). During that time, I served as the Vice President of the organization, when asked I participated as a judge for the Jurying process for GSLA. I am also a member of Best of Missouri Hands, the St. Louis Artists’ Guild and Art Saint Louis. I have been juried into a number of shows/fairs throughout the St. Louis Area including: Queeny Art Fair, Art Outside, Art and Air, Faust Park, Open Studio - the St. Louis Contemporary Art Museum, Mosaics, St. Louis Artist Guild, 2008 Gallery St Louis, Soulard Art Gallery, Gateway Gallery, Florissant Valley CC, Meramec CC, St. Charles CC, The Foundry in St. Charles, Historic Shaw Art Fair and Framations Art Gallery. My work is displayed at numerous businesses in the St. Louis area. My work is available at from my website https://greg-kluempers.pixels.com/ and Missouri Artist on Main in St Charles. I have been a member of the for over 15 years and I have worked setting up of the Queeny Art Fair for over 10 years. Last year when the directors of the Art Fair decided to retire, I stepped forward and was appointed one of the new directors of the show.
