Description
Kena Sosa is an award-winning author, filmmaker and percussionist. She earned her BA from Our Lady of the Lake University and her Masters at Southern Methodist University. She published two award-winning children’s books: The Unhuggables and Kindertransport-a child’s journey. In music, Kena is an endorsed Creative Percussion Artist, Collision Drumsticks Artist and a performing member of Goisagi, a taiko ensemble based in Fort Worth. Kena is also a DCF with Do You Speak Drum. She wrote and directed several short films to hone her craft and develop her own style and is in the MAP Cohort for filmmaking. Kena has written for Fort Worth Weekly, CBS/DFW Local, Appleseeds Magazine and Multicultural Review Magazine. In 2023, she served as the Guest Editor for the Fall/Winter 2023 issue of ICAF’s ChildArt Magazine and an Executive Director of the Topaz Film Festival. Kena is passionate about combining her talents to create multidimensional expressions in the arts.
