Lyndsey Ellis is a writer, editor, and teaching artist who combines literary arts practice with speculative fiction elements to explore intergenerational experiences and regional history in her writing. She has taught for Your Words STL, Gotham Writers Workshop, Loft Literary Center, California Writers’ Club, and midnight & indigo. Lyndsey has been the recipient of Friends of American Writers Literature Award, San Francisco Foundation’s Joseph Henry Jackson Literary Award, Barbara Deming Memorial Fund, Kimbilio Fellowship, and Heartland Journalism Fellowship. An artist support grant from the Regional Arts Commission helped her launch a community workshop series , "PlainTalk: Intergenerational Voices of St. Louis". Lyndsey is the author of Bone Broth (Hidden Timber Books), and she has work appearing in Kweli Journal, Shondaland, Narratively, Catapult, The Rumpus, Literary Hub and Electric Literature. Her writing has been anthologized in Belt Publishing's St. Louis Anthology and Black in the Middle: An Anthology of the Black Midwest, among others. Drawing from over 10 years of editing experience with literary journals, Lyndsey founded Show-Me Stories, LLC in 2023, to help new storytellers to finish their first drafts. She holds a BA from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and an MFA in Writing from California College of the Arts.
